As the name suggest, this drill is the combination of three major drills of baseball including down runners, double pace and fielding grounders. Normally kids enjoy this game and it is good for their learning as well. This game requires an in-field area with bases and balls. As this game is the perfect combination of three drills, all the positions will be utilized except the pitcher. Usually the game has five players but there is no harm in bringing more.
Five players will start the game and all of them are supposed to rotate. If there are more than five players, they can be part of the game but only five of them can be active at one point of time. The others will stay inactive. The game starts when the catcher throws the ball to the third player. The third player will throw grounder to the second player, who will basically fielding the ball. From the second player, the ball will move to the first player again and at the end the first baseman will throw it back to the catcher. Once two complete grounds are done, the players will rotate at their position. You can continue rotating until all the players have played the four positions.
This game can be turned into a team competition with multiple teams taking varied positions. The points will be deducted when an error is made. The scoring system can move on when you provide each team a particular score and scores will be deducted on any marked error. In the end of the game, the score of each team will be totaled. The team with the highest score will mark its victory. This will lead to the competitive spirit among players and bring about more enthusiasm for the game.
