Choosing the right size kit
Picking the correct kite measurement for the mix of wind conditions and your body weight is a basic for protected and pleasant kitesurfing. Getting overwhelmed is unpleasant and you may get hurt. If all else fails, utilize a smaller kite as opposed to a bigger kite.
On the off chance that you are after an auxiliary kite for more grounded conditions, ordinarily pick a kite 3 to 2 meters smaller than your ordinary kite. E.g., in the event that you are 81 kg, your kite could be 11m and your “solid breeze day kite” could be 8m.
As you turn out to be more proficient you can climb up or down a kite estimate contingent upon wind quality and your inclination. Getting a bigger kite will give you more power, while picking smaller will give you more wellbeing when the breeze spikes.
As per guide, Peter (87kg) uses:
Wind 8-15 knots: 14.5m Ocean Rodeo Flite using a Sector 60 board for lower winds
Wind 10-25 knots: 10m Union – Airush, usually on a surfboard
Wind 20-35 knots: 8m Union – Airush , usually on a surfboard
Wind 30-40 knots: 7m Crossbow – Cabrinha, usually on a surfboard (haven’t used this kite since I got the Union 8)
While Stuart (75kg) uses:
Wind 15-25 knots: 10m Switchblade – Cabrinha, on a twintip board
Wind 25-40 knots: 7m Crossbow – Cabrinha, on a twintip board
The above wind ranges are for riders with over 1 year experience and at least 30 sessions logged.
This Formula could assist you choosing the right kite size:
Weight (kg) / wind (knots) x 2.2 = size of kite you should be using
E.g. 58 kg / 16 knots x 2.2 = 7.9 so use an 8m kite.
