2×0:
This drill is best for practicing shots that hit the net.
For this drill, the team which scores twice will win. After scoring one goal, two of the players will traverse the red line and get a pass from the player present at the front of their line. Then a second bout is made to score the next goal. If the goal is missed, the puck must be retrieved and the player must try again to score.
The Crease Challenge:
For this drill, the net is removed and two lines are formed. The coach tosses a puck to the wall at the back of the crease. Two players play against each other to possess the puck. When one of them gets the puck he makes an effort to bring the puck inside the blue area of the crease. In order to be made the winner, the plater should hold possession of the puck and keep himself and the puck both within the limits of the crease.
Net Swing:
The coach tosses the puck to any one side of the net. Whichever player gets possession of the puck has to take it behind the net. He has to cross the blue line on the opposite side before he can let go of the puck. If the defenseman snatches the puck, he has to go back behind and about the net to the other side and traverse the blue line before giving up the puck.
The game goes on until one of the players is able to take the puck over to the blue line.
The 5 Pucks Contest:
This drill starts out with all of the players divided into two teams and waiting on benches. Two players, one from each team jumps the boards to take a shot and starts the game. The player who scores the shot goes back to the bench to let the next player from his team take his chance. The player who is unable to score the shot has to recover the puck and take it back to the center of the circle and go back to the bench. The team who scores 5 goals first, wins.
8 Person Knockout:
8 players are lined up around the circle. Hard passes are conducted forehand to forehand in quick movements. If any player makes a bad pass or misses a good pass, they are eliminated. As players get eliminated, those who remain move about the circle.
