Inside turn is utilized when you are pursuing a fly ball at an edge and you have to change your directions. You will plant and push off with your outside leg and open up with your trailing leg. Your end goal is to change the directions in the outfield. The preferred standpoint to within turn is that you can watch out for the ball the whole time.
This drill provides the best practice for the outfielders to perform and execute a drop step. It will teach them to adjust to a ball and hit at an angle over the heads. The equipment used for this drill are the baseballs. The set-up of the game is quite simple. The outfielder will start from about ten feet in front of you. One more line of outfielder is to be there a few feet away. Take the ball in your hand and point it towards the one direction.
Player is supposed to make a drop move to that side and proceed back at the end. After he has made a couple strides, move the ball to the opposite side. The player is supposed to field with outside leg and make an inside move to change bearings. He should constantly keep his eyes on you so he can understand the strategy. Change directions once again, then toss the ball at about a similar point he is setting out toward him to get.
To increase the difficulty level of the game, make the toss the other way to constrain one more inside strike.
