Get The Angle – Outfield Baseball Drill

Get the angle drill helps the outfielders to practice how to take the cut-off at a proper angle when there is a gap and to create a circle of the ball when there is time available. The equipment required to play the drill is baseballs.

The game starts with a setup of an outfielder when he is placed about 50 feet in front of you. Another line of outfielder will stand around few feet away.

To start the game, the coach will throw balls on the ground or in the air which would simulate all the different balls that hit the ground in the outfield. At times, the players have difficulty in throwing the balls. At that particular time, you can also use tennis rackets for your ease. The tennis rackets will allow the players to have a good control over where the ball moves and how high do you hit the ball.

Have the players deal with taking the best possible angle to the ball. they should ensure that they don’t make a blunder of kicking it into high gear behind the ball and not giving it a chance to get by. Underscore to the players that by kicking it into high gear behind the ball, they will be in a decent position of making a toss.

The game can be turned into a competition to make it interesting to learn and fun as well. This game teaches on how to decide on your angles, the movement of your hands and how should you throw to make the perfect angle of throw. It is important to take a quick sprint of circle when need be.
