Heading activity is a type of dribbling soccer drill. the setup of the drill is one 30 yard by 30 yard grid with a 3 yard X 3 yard smaller grid on its inside.
The players need to be paired into sets of two with one player assigned the position of the server and the other the header. The header must begin by kneeling up with his arms by his sides. The server tosses the ball and the player jumps forward to head the ball, follow through and wind up on his arms. It is important to advise the players to attempt to contact the ball and not let it touch them, and hit it on the hard part of their head utilizing their entire body to follow through.
There are two groups of players. One of the groups of players is placed on the outside grid with a soccer ball in their grasp. The players who are positioned within the inside grid, player number 1, run or show to a player on the grid which is on the outside, who will be player number 2. Now, Player number 2 underhand throws the ball to player number 1 who showed for them. Player number 1 heads the ball back to the outside player. Next, player number 1 keeps running into the grid which is smaller and hopes to show for a different player on the outside.
