This is a type of soccer drill which helps players in the techniques of both attacking as well as defending. This game is suitable for players of all ages or experience. But coaches are most likely to train players using this drill of those who range between the ages of 8 to 14 years old. The game is to be played in an area or field that is approximately 30 by 20 yards in size.
The set up of One goal score required the use of a suitable sized playing area or field, with either a single cone or a pole goal is set in the middle and not on the end of the line. The coach can pick two teams of either three or four players, and one player would be assigned the position of the goalkeeper.
The game will require both the teams to attack as well as defend the one goal in the game. Players can score a goal from either of the two sides of the goal. In this drill, the rules state that the player who has the last touch on the soccer ball before it crosses the line is the player that is able to score a point, even if the touch is only a slight deflection. If a player is able to score a goal, the game is to be continued from the other side of the goal. On the instance that, the player positioned as the goalkeeper is able to make a save, they are required to throw the ball to the edge of the playing area.
It is important that the emphasis should be placed on making a shot towards the goal at the earliest opportunity that arises. And try not to miss this opportunity or lose it to the players in the opposing team. It is up to the players to combine their efforts in order to create a goal-scoring opportunity.
