P-I-G is one type of soccer drill played for fun and it also helps in developing a players touch and control of the ball in the air. The set up of the game involves gathering a bunch of players and making them form a circle. This drill is suitable for players between the ages of 10 to 14.
The game begins with players juggling or half volleying the soccer ball back and forth to one another. If any of the players makes a bad volley or makes a bad serve, he or she get the letter “P”. Then, the game starts again and the players resume juggling or half volleying the ball back and forth. If, the same player makes another error in terms of his serve, he will get another letter which would be “I” this time. So now he would have the letters “PI” and the game goes on, and the more the errors the more the letters for a player.
A few variations can be made in this P-I-G soccer drill. The start off of the game with the ball may hit the ground once. However, this type of variation is more suitable for junior or younger players. For more advance players, head volley or full volley plays would be suitable.
