The purpose of this particular drill is that it helps and assists players in helping them work on their mechanics as well as timing of a sacrifice bunt. Furthermore, it also allows the team coach to evaluate the bunting mechanics of a lot of players at one moment in time. The equipment required for this drill is only a bat. The setup of Sacrifice Form drill is best carried out when it is conducted as a group.
The execution involves having a group of around 5 to 6 players, who would be spread out about 20 feet in front of the drill conductor. Each and every player is required to take their stance and get ready for the pitch. The task of the coach is to simulate a stretch and deliver an imaginary pitch to the player. The purpose of the drill is to make sure that each player will learn to work on their timing of getting in position to bunt.
The things to look for in this drill are that the coach needs to make sure that the players look balanced and are standing in their proper stance. They have to see whether there is any chance that the players are stepping close to where the plate would be placed. The coach has to try and make sure that the drill helps players to learn the proper angle at which to place the bat, which would be at the top of the strike zone.
