Warm up
Like all other age groups, warming up is important for seniors as well. One way to do that is the triangular run. The setup is simple and the run is about dribbling. You start with dribbling the ball from left to right and center to back and then you start throwing the ball. You throw the ball to bounce and catch it or throw it and catch at once.
Passing Varieties
There are many ways to give a good pass to fellow players and stay safe from the opposite team. Here are the few varieties you should learn:
– center shot into the direction of the goal, threatening to throw at the goal.
– center shot with pressure into the direction of the goal, threatening to throw at the pivot.
– jump shot: 3,2,1 step rhythm, jump off with “wrong” foot
– push pass
– bounce pass
– with both hands
Fast Break
Two lines of players (one on every side) and a feeder/mentor remaining in the center. The player at the front of the line passes the ball to the feeder in the center and after that sprints towards the goal. The feeder gives back the ball, passing the ball before the runner, for them to run onto and shoot with a speedy center shot.
The attackers should go the distance to the goal.
Defense When Attacker Catches the Ball
Attackers try to score a goal; defenders attempt to stop this. Change the task after every turn.
Coaching Advice:
put your hand in between the ball and the opponent’s hand when you hear the ball bounce on the floor
Attack your opponent from the side he is dribbling the ball
