Below are a few tips for snowboarding beginners.
Are you a goofy or a regular?
This determines which foot of yours will be your lead foot. Get someone to give you a gentle push from behind and whichever foot goes forward first is your lead foot. Left foot forward first means you are a regular and if the right one goes forward first then you’re a southpaw.
Determining whether you’re a regular or a southpaw makes it easier for you to ride the snowboard.
Clasping the bindings:
Bindings are the plastic belts that you clasp your feet into. They are of two types: speed entry bindings and strap bindings.
Strap bindings consist of two straps that are clasped on top of the boot to fasten yourself to the board. These straps are padded to provide outstanding cushioning and allow for numerous adjustment options.
Speed entry bindings work in almost the same banner except that they have a high-back thing to them which goes at the back so that you can easily slip your boot out. This is a matter of convenience since it is difficult to tug at the bindings when you have thick gloves on.
Your rear foot should be out of the bindings and utilize it to push yourself about on even surfaces, climb up slopes and so on.
Falling:
You need to accept that if you’re learning snowboarding, you will fall, a lot. So you need to know how to fall such that you hurt yourself as least as possible. When you’re falling, do not start flailing to stop yourself because that can cause damage to your wrists.
Get in shape:
Snowboarding requires energy, will-power and stamina. The more energetic you are, the easier it is to learn. Snowboarding has to be done in a squat position, so it helps if you have strong legs. You can get stronger legs by doing squat and raising your calves.
