The bank game is a technique used in soccer drills, designed to teach players one of the passing strategies of the game. The setup of this game play involves setting up teams of two, with 4 to 5 players in each team. Each team is placed in a 40 X 40 grid (which may be adjustable). This play, also known as passing with pressure, involves the team coach sending the soccer ball in the O team’s territory on the grid. In response to this, the rival team sends one of their players to act as a defender. The concept that the O team will follow would be to try to connect at least 4 passes at one time, in a row, without the other team’s defender kicking or stealing the ball out of the grid. Every time one of the teams accomplished this strategy, they were able to make a 100 bucks. After they are able to make the hundred bucks, they will have two options to choose from. Firstly, they can either opt to give it another try at a 100 more bucks, or the second option available is to simply bank the 100 they were able to make on their first try. Now, in order to opt for the latter option and bank the money, they are required to follow the rules and send the soccer ball back into the rival team’s assorted grid and then send one of their players to act as a defender. This time, they will have to try and steal back the soccer ball from the opposing team. If this results in the ball being stolen or being kicked out of bound, then the coach is required to send the ball into the grid assigned to the other team.
The progressions of this game play would involve sending in more than one defender at a time. However, this would result in making the overall grid smaller. Thus, to counteract this problem, and make the game much easier, it would be beneficial to make the grid larger in size. In addition to this, they could also add an offensive player in the game.
