The shooting game is a type of soccer drill which helps players train in the technique of shooting. The setup of this game involves creating two separate lines, approximately 30 yards apart from each other. The cones would then be used to make a goal in the centre or in the middle of these two lines. Players ranging between the ages of 6 to 14 are made to train using this drill.
The game begins when the coach gives a soccer ball to one of the teams on either of the side. As for the opposing team, they are required to send in any one of their players into the goal.
The first player, player 1 is required to shoot the ball in the direction of the goal. If, in this instance, the goalie is able to make a save, he then rolls the soccer ball back to his own team and then goes back behind the line with the rest of his teammates.
The player, player 1, who made the shot now has to take on the position of the keeper. Player from the opposing team will now get a chance to take a shot on Player 1. In the instances if he scores or misses the shot, the soccer ball will be rolled to the other side. Now, the player who made the shot will now become the goal keeper and as for player 1, he is required to go back with his team. This drill eventually becomes a very fast paced and quick shooting game.
Shooting is one of the most important factors in an attacking play. If a player has a poor technique or is one of the players who are unwilling to shoot the ball or make their shot, often lead to missing goal scoring opportunities. It is essential that a shooting drill or shooting practice in general should always be made to resemble a real match environment.
