The set up of this game involves having a 20 by 40 yard square with having both the ends open to form the pitch. Then, two cones will be placed about 1 yard apart in the centre of both ends in order to form the goals. After the field has been setup, the coach will divide the players into two separate equal teams.
In wars, the two teams are required to line up on the outside of the pitch, behind the respective goals, which are opposite to each other. The coach will then have to assign each of the players a number. The game starts with the coach tossing the ball on the pitch and then calling a number. The players who had been assigned that number from each team are required to run into the field and have to attempt to score through the opposite goal. If the players do not have control or are almost two or more than 2 steps further from the ball, the goal will not be counted. On the other hand, you can also encourage players to carry out quick shooting by allowing them to shoot as soon as they lay their eyes on the goal. As for the players defending skills, which would includes the player closing down and positioning between the goal and the attacker and not “diving ” into it. This technique can also be reinforced and emphasized in this easy yet fun soccer coaching session. If the ball were to go out of the grid or out of bound, then the coach should throw in another ball in order to keep the game flowing. As soon as the players are back into their original position, the coach will call out another number or the next number. When a player is able to score, they will be awarded that one point. Give every player a chance to play.
