Wrestling is the most popular sport which is practiced and enjoyed worldwide in different forms. Every country has their own tricks and tips but there are some beginner’s rules to it. The wrestlers and fights you see inside the ring takes years of practice and you can’t directly apply it to yourself.
Whenever we see a fight start we see two wrestlers standing against each other that’s the start which takes to your rule #1. There are two different types of standing positions. First is the square stance, where both the wrestlers have equal weight on their legs and are standing parallel and the other one is staggered stance; where one foot is ahead of the other and the front foot has more weight. The both are in the position where one is ready to attack and the other to defend.
Rule #2 is where you should know how to penetrate through your opponent’s defense and for this you need to start with the staggered stance and shift your body to the front foot and place your leg in between the opponent’s leg and then move forwards to grab one of both the legs of your opponent, TADAA!
Moving on to the rule #3 which is to lift your opponent and its usually done when you’re trying to take them down. It can be done in a number of ways by locking the legs or grabbing them from the waist and picking them, but make sure you don’t smack them too hard on the floor. That’s ILLEGAL!
Next is knowing how to pin or it’s called ‘locking’ in the wrestling dictionary which is the rule #4. When you’ve pinned them to the ground hold them to a still position like pulling their leg upwards or twisting hands around etc. Make sure you don’t break their neck in the process…
And last which is #5 You should know how to escape their lock and for that you can grab and pull the wrist that’s got you and pull them in forward position so they’re the one in front of you and you can proceed with your own locks or just better safe try and get up.
